Questions
Individual & ACA — common questions
Does it cost anything to use you?
No. We're paid by the insurance company, and your premium is exactly the same whether or not you use an agent — so you get expert help, on- and off-exchange comparison, and someone in your corner at no cost.
My premium jumped for 2026 — what happened?
The extra federal premium tax credits that were in place from 2021 through 2025 expired on January 1, 2026, so many people's monthly cost went up. The good news: California added its own state help, and you may still qualify for federal credits. We find every dollar you're still eligible for.
I missed open enrollment — can I still get covered?
Often, yes. Open enrollment runs Nov 1–Jan 31, but a qualifying life event — losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new baby, or a household change — opens a Special Enrollment window (usually 60 days). Tell us what's going on and we'll confirm your window.
Will I qualify for financial help?
Many people do. Federal premium tax credits are available across a wide income range, California adds extra help for lower incomes, and if your income is very low you may qualify for free or low-cost Medicaid (called Medi-Cal in California; other states have their own program). Your exact amount depends on your household, income, age, and ZIP — a certified agent confirms it for free. Any figure on this page is an estimate.
Are you Covered California?
No — we're an independent licensed insurance agency. We're a Covered California Certified Insurance Agent, which means we can help you enroll through Covered California and also compare off-exchange plans, so you see your full set of options. Covered California is the state's official marketplace; this site is owned and operated by You Benefit Insurance Services.
Which states do you cover, and can you check my doctors?
We're licensed across California, Colorado, Texas, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee & Kansas. California has its own marketplace (Covered California) and Medi-Cal; other states use their own exchanges. Tell us your doctors and prescriptions and we'll confirm they're covered before you enroll.
